Now is the time for surveying core squares. One visit is required between 27th Dec and 10th Jan - it's that easy.

There are several unassigned core squares in South Lincs for the Winter Thrush Survey. Please contact Hugh Dorrington (email hdorrington "AT" btconnect.com) to request one of the following...

SK9493 Boothby Pagnell
SK9538 Londonthorpe
TF0328 Keisby
TF0827 Rippingale
TF1012 Langtoft
TF1438 Swaton
TF1624 Morton Fen
TF1827 Pinchbeck Northgate
TF2633 Quadring Eaudyke
TF2730 Surfleet Seas End
TF3134 Fosdyke

See http://www.bto.org/volunteer-surveys/wi ... atest-news for more details.....

South Lincolnshire now has the just a few core sites for the Winter Thrush survey which are still unassigned:

SK9538 Londonthorpe (very handy for Grantham birders)
TF0328 Keisby (Short-eared Owls are often seen here!)
TF1827 Pinchbeck Northgate (this site must be loved by someone!)

If you can take on any of these sites for just one visit please go to the website http://www.bto.org/volunteer-surveys/winter-thrushes and contact me on hdorrington@btconnect.com

Heres a fantastic link to the BTO WTS survey which enables you to see the survey results for each square as they come in.

http://blx1.bto.org/results/thrush/

Click on the map for the region you want and then drill down by clicking on the area you are interested in.

If you wanted to you could click on say every 1km square covered in Lincs and say Cornwall and compare the results.

I'd like to thank everyone who has been taking part in the core counts and its not too late to start counting your own square if you'd like to get involved.

PS thanks to Chris Gunn BTO RR for N Lincs for drawing my attention to the above link.
