Whisby Nature Park BioBlitz on 12th Jul 2013

Come and join the race to find as much wildlife as we can! A BioBlitz is a large scale event that engages people with biodiversity, inviting them to get directly involved in surveying and monitoring their local wildlife and green spaces. During a BioBlitz event scientists and members of the public work together to survey a natural space; looking for, identifying and recording as many species as possible over 24 hours or shorter for a "mini-BioBlitz"

At the Lincolnshire BioBlitz you can get involved in a range of activities including:
Groups we hope to cover: Birds, Freshwater Inverts/plants, Botany, Cryptogams, Fungi, Spiders, Molluscs, Flies, Soil Fauna, Mammals, Reptiles, Odonata, Aculeates, Moths, Beetles, Parasitica, Galls, Woodlice, Lacewings Experts will be on hand to help with identification and recording.

Friday 12th July: 10.00am start 9.00pm moth and bat session
Saturday 13th July: 10.00am start 4.00pm finish

Where?
The site is a fascinating mix of small, medium and large flooded gravel pits, which have become 'greened' by up to 40 years of natural colonization. With over 2,800 species recorded there is a wealth of wildlife to find and explore. There are seven hides placed to overlook various lakes, and the Education Centre will be set up with microscopes, identification help and information displays.
