Help safeguard our seabirds
From the RSPB
The UK’s coasts and seas are one of the most important places for seabirds anywhere in the world, but due to increased pressure from human activity they are in trouble.
Laws have been passed that allow us to protect our fragile marine environment by designating a network of protected areas. However, after a promising start the process of actually selecting and designating these sites has resulted in only 31 being proposed from an initial list of 127 – none of which are based on tackling the threats faced by seabirds.
With your help we have an opportunity to change this.
Defra is currently asking for input to a public consultation giving you the opportunity to help us call for improvements. Most importantly we want seabirds reinstated as protected species for those sites from which they were removed.
Please help make a difference by following the link on our Safeguard our Sea Life (
http://www.rspb.org.uk/supporting/campa ... index.aspx) web pages to e-mail Defra (
http://www.rspb.org.uk/supporting/campa ... index.aspx) and make a submission to the consultation before it closes on 31 March.
Thanks a lot for your support.
