The Lincolnshire Coastal Grazing Marsh Project invites you on a free tour of Lincolnshire’s ‘Cathedrals of the Marsh’. Through work with local volunteers and The Churches Conservation Trust’s ArChWay Project this short guided bus tour will visit five churches that tell the story of communities past and present, and the role of churches as the centre of marsh communities – reflecting wealth, land reclamation and links with Europe.

Meet at Anderby Creek car park Anderby Creek, Skegness PE24 5XW
Join the project and Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust’s Coastal Ranger on a gentle 2.5 mile circular walk through the coast and grazing marsh, as the migratory birds visit the area to rest and refuel. Chiffchaff and willow warbler will be starting to establish territories and the air will be alive with birdsong with robins, reed buntings, dunnocks and blackbirds in full voice. The rare marsh harrier may even make an appearance.

Discovering the Natural Environment Following the success of last year’s workshops, the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust is planning a series of free wildlife workshops to look at the ecology, identification and survey methods of various species starting in spring with:
Ponds and Pond Life
Saturday 27 April,10am – 3.30pm
Rimac classroom, Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe National Nature Reserve
Learn how to create and manage ponds for wildlife, investigate the creatures that live in ponds and how to identify them. After the course you will know how to create your own pond & carry out a pond wildlife survey. Cold drinks and biscuits will be provided. Please bring your own hot drinks and packed lunch. Bats and ChurchesSaturday 11 May, 6 – 10pm ish
All Saints Church, Saltfleetby LN11 7TU
The workshop starts with an indoor session on bat ecology and looking for signs of bats within the church. At sunset (weather permitting) we will go outside with special detectors that pick up the echo-location of bats and carry out a survey as they emerge from their roost within the church. After the course you will be able to carry out bat surveys of your local churches. Cold

Wander 4 - Burgh-le-Marsh Walk

Market Place, Burgh-le-Marsh, Skegness PE24 5JW
A 5 mile circular walk set in Burgh-le-Marsh and surrounding grazing marsh, with evidence of old farming systems & Burgh’s original village settlement. These fields are a very scarce remnant of seasonally wet grassland which is a nationally important habitat for rare flowers such as Great Burnett.
