Hi Graham, I've no idea what it is, but it's definitely not a BH Bunting Stuart, sorry ! It almost sounds like an aberrant / sub-song of Lesser Whitethroat, or alternatively an Acro. but I don't recall hearing anything exactly like it. Does Xeno-canto have any facility to match sonograms Graham ? Phil |

Sounds slightly slow, but I agree with Phil - Lesser Whitethroat. If not this species then another Sylvia? Doesn't sound right for a Sard...(so probably is!) James |

When I first heard this on my phone I thought I was listening to a hoarse Willow Warbler. Lesser Whitethroat sounds more likely but I've just been listening to a recording of Iberian Chiffchaff which has quite a few elements of Graham's recording. So in summary I dunno! John |

It does no sound like any pure song that I am familiar with. However, a couple of years ago I was confused by a slightly similar wierd song that I eventually traced to a whitethroat - it continued to sing the same type of song for around two weeks. Currently, there is a a willow warbler delivering an abberrant song from the Shoveler's Pool area - when I first heard it I thougt it was an Icky ! It does manage to get some pure willow warb notes out. Kev |

Lau rie has some other videos on You Tube and one he calls ' an odd Lesser Whitethroat' so perhaps that's what the Lincs. bird is, as others have mentioned. Probably Graham knows what the bird is,but is not saying, yet? Geoff |

one person has mentioned the correct species so far and a few are very close -- will give it another day then post the species-- hopefully get some better recordings when the wind drops |
