Many birds die by crashing into windows. Easily avoided with a little window furniture or a cut out of a sparrowhawk. This was taken at a local health club

In the last two days I've had one bird hit the front lounge window and one hit the back, both were small birds and thankfully they flew off. Collared Doves are the ones that usually hit leaving a good imprint on the window, most likely getting out the way of the local Sprawk or moggie. I have ornaments and cuddly toys in the back window and a large ornament in the front. Maybe I should print off some of my Sprawk photos and cut round them and hang them in window.

PS: I've seen your Tawny pic.

It appears that the main problem is that the reflection of the sky in the glass fools the bird into going that way when disturbed. I use to have quite a few deaths from this but since I attached matt black raptor shapes on the OUTSIDE of the windows I have not had any. The inside of the plastic sticker is a picture of the raptor so it's not too intrusive, anyhow it saves lives!
