Post subject:  Last weekend's bird fall: surface pressure chart website

The Met office do not keep past synoptic charts but gave me this German web address:
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten/tkfaxbraar.htm
After selecting the time and date press 'ziegen'.

The entries for last weekend show a terrific fall of migrants and arrival in our coastal waters of lots of sea birds so I thought the weather
picture might be interesting. Sure enough on both 12th and 13th there was an ENE airstream with quite close isobars all the way from Scandinavia to Lincolnshire. This airstream began on th 11th and was over on the 14th.

Sadly I missed the action but at least now know what to look for on the surface pressure chart.
This website gives a useful future weather map: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weat ... sureColour

Cheers Jonathan
