Little Terns
You may be aware that the RSPB have launched a new 5 year EU LIFE+ funded national programme of Little Tern monitoring and protection, working with several other partner organisations. Dave Miller, the Lincs Trust's 'Coast and The Wash' warden is coordintaing this work for Lincolnshire.
We would be very grateful for any records of Little Terns in Lincs, particularly over the next 3 weeks, as we are keen to see how many sites they prospect or attempt to breed at. Please remember they are Schedule 1, so don't approach any you believe to be breeding and don't post the record publicly, but please could you let myself or Dave Miller know.

There is then a two week window before the next big spring tides on the 15th - 19th May. We expect the early nesters on the more remote shingle banks to get washed off by this mid-May high tide sequence, if they haven't been predated or disturbed already! They really are a species on the edge (literally) in Lincs!
Any records gratefully recieved - you can just post them under the normal Records page of the Forum and we will extract them. The more details and observations (sitting/feeding/just passing etc) the better.
And if you are out on the tideline please be very mindful you don't get stranded during the big tide sequences!
