I believe there have been attempts to cross-breed mistle and song thrushes in aviculture, but without results.
What would the song of such a hybrid sound like?
Finches used to be regularly cross-bred by bird fanciers in times gone by, but softbills were always more of a challenge.
Having said that, was there not a time in the early 1980s (in Barton, I think) when a wild hybrid swallow/house martin was trapped during ringing project?
I seem to recall publicity, including photographs, in the Scunthorpe Telegraph. There was perhaps a detailed report in a back edition of the Lincolnshire Bird Report.
