Post subject:  Late nesting Meadow Pipits.

A pair of Meadow Pipits was watched carrying food to a nest of young on the sea-bank at the south end of Donna Nook this morning. I don't seem to recall seeing this species nesting as late as this. It could be a third brood, but any earlier attempts in the nearby arable land may easily have been thwarted. As far as I could tell, the adults were bringing small caterpillars and insect larvae, plus the occasional adult crane fly-type to the nest.
