Ok so the article below relates to an American Windfarm Operator but maybe the story is relevant to Lincolnshire with it's many huge wind turbines both onshore and offshore located in sensitive migration routes ie offshore in the Wash and Humber Estuaries ? I fear that Lincolnshire is rapidly becoming 'Avian Cleansed' by these huge industrial monstrosities... Apologies if link is dodgy but otherwise Google ' NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT' for more info. https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpre ... more-12419 Regards Greg Roberts |

This week a planning application for a wind turbine at Friskney between Boston and Skegness has been turned down by East Lindsey District Council. I have blogged a bit about it at http://thewryneck.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/bird-life-concerns-prompt-coastal.html However, the full info (including a breeding bird survey) is at http://publicaccess.e-lindsey.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=_EASTL_DCAPR_116617 |

To put it into perspective, this application was for a single 45m high wind turbine that didn't pass planning scrutiny. The proposed development at Nocton Fen would be for twenty 150m high turbines, that's 3 times higher. When the time comes please support the objections to the application. keep up to date at http://www.protectnoctonfen.org.uk/ |

Yes Russell, The huge Nocton Fen windfarm should be of great concern to all of us interested in keeping important areas like the Witham Valley free from major industrialisation, this development if allowed, will undoubtedly pose a displacement threat and indeed a direct risk to many bird species. Whilst not wishing to differentiate between any species of bird as they are all equally valued, I am particularly concerned about the threat that will be posed to the Marsh Harrier roosts in that area. Nocton Fen developers have released a virtual drive through view of the proposed site. Ignore the nice music, which is obviously there to make you feel at one with the world, and the fact that it is a "blue sky" day even if the sun isn't shown. Also ignore the fact that trees seem to be in places where no trees exist. I for one say "NO" |
