Respect to all bird trackers and especially Nige Lound! Your birding is producing valuable population monitoring information as well as the formal surveys you take part in.

The benefits are two way. BTO get to use your data and you get a fantastic resource for storing and reflecting on your own records.

My favourite tool at the moment is the birdtrack app which lets me know what everyone else has seen so far this year and I haven't: "Target Birds". The 2 commonest birds missing for me last year were Bearded Tit and Crossbill. I will get round to seeing them this year.

This year so far my commonest missing birds are Jay and Siskin, both in Hubbards Hills Louth last new years day and absent so far this year.

If you haven't found this feature on the Birdtrack app so far click on "More" in the bottom right hand corner, select "personal lists" and then "year targets".
