Grimsby Town are hoping to build a new stadium on the edge of town. English Nature ruled that since the site is used by over-wintering Golden Plover, Lapwing and Curlew, Grimsby Town would have to manage an adjacent area of land for these migrants. So far so reasonable. Unfortunately, on Friday this was used by Grimsby Telegraph 'journalist' Geoff Ford as an excuse to write an offensive article. I won't copy out the whole thing, but as examples he describes English Nature as 'tree-huggers' and 'tadpole-counters', expresses disbelief that a 'professional twitcher' was sent at 'our expense' to count the birds, and much more in that vein.
A strongly worded letter of complaint has been sent. There are currently four signatures at the bottom of this letter. If we could use your name on this letter, please PM me as the more people we have to sign it hopefully the more seriously the famously anti-wildlife Grimsby Telegraph will take our grievances.

Alternatively you can email Geoff Ford directly at geoff.ford@gsmg.co.uk.

Cheers

Steve

Thank you to everyone who responded. The letter has now been sent with signatures well into double figures.

Cheers

Steve
