Wilsons Storm Petrel probably the commonest sea bird in the world, one colony alone over a million birds, but i paid out good money over hundred quid to go see one, would you pay that out for a Blue Tit, no cause its common to us and if you admit it most people on here are not interested. And Dean your right loads of common birds on my blog, shows how c**p it is in Lincs then. And the last one i never said those species were Dross, i said the usual Dross meaning Starlings, Black Headed Gulls etc, get your facts right before you make statements about other people please. |

All of us find birding a bit boring now and again,and we all wish for finding that GOOD BIRD,but to come out and say your home county is c**p,and on your home county's bird forum is a bit silly isn't it.Perhaps pastures new are what you need,maybe the Outer hebrides,or some other remote location.And all this is coming from a Yorkie who lives in Linc's! |

Steve Sorry to disagree but I think Lincs is a great place to go birding! If you think its that c**p maybe you should use your binoculars and take up train spotting instead!

As another Yorkie who now resides in Lincolnshire I also happen to think we are an extremely lucky county with a vast array of different habitats and lots of wonderful birds and wildlife to marvel at. I also think that to label it c**p is an insult to all the hardworking conservation staff and volunteers who have created and maintained habitats so that we can all enjoy the sights of magnificent birds like the Marsh Harrier, Bittern etc which may not ever see or observe otherwise. Im sure that most birdwatchers, conservationists and future dedicated naturalists began their love affair with our birds by observing our common species like blue tits on the peanuts in our gardens, or listening and smiling at the sweet song of the robin, or even just feeding the ducks at the park, and long may it continue!! Thought I'd have my five bob's worth 
Today at MSQ it was cold and windy, well it would be cos it's Autumn. I met two lads from Lincoln area, and they asked if I'd seen the Woodcock, no I hadn't. Which was odd because it was only fifteen feet away on a life raft I was preoccupied looking for the LEO's.
Having never seen a Woodcock and knowing they tend to be a secretive bird, I couldn't believe my luck. I took a couple of photos, but one of the lads let me use his scope to take some more. I duly thanked them. To most of the experienced birders on here, I daresay seeing a Woodcock you wouldn't turn an hair, but for me with twelve years experience, it was brilliant
