A planning application has been submitted to North Lincolnshire Council for the construction of a new sports academy / tennis academy and also the rejuvenation of Central Park in Scunthorpe. If this application is successfull then 198 trees will be felled. It will affect bird species as varied as tawny owl right through to great spotted woodpecker. The tawny owls are, at this moment, sitting on eggs. They raised 3 chicks last year, lets hope this year isn't their last. Would you all please look at the planning applications online and object. This can also be done online. Felling is due to start this autumn. The application numbers are PA/2008/0348 and PA/2008/0349 Please support this objection and help save these trees. |

We need the eco warriors to come and help. Over the years Brumby Woods as changed from when I played there as a boy in the 1950s. What about all the changes at Ashbyville? Quite a bit of habitat lost there to make way for housing. Can we stand in the way of change? The changes at Central Park have been in the pipeline for yonks! |

For my information, where is Central Park in Scunthorpe? Is it the area around Brumby Hall Sports Ground? The reason I ask is that my son plays footy there quite regularly and have noticed what I assume are Owl boxes in the trees. Thanks James |

Thanks John, My times there are not usually so happy, as App Frod usually beat my lad's team. |

Even though the changes were announced a while ago we've still got to put up a fight. I'd hate to see the trees go knowing that I'd not even tried to save them. Support from all you LBC members would be HUGELY appreciated. Libby. |
