Hi All,

I was formerly on the forum until it went members only. Since then I've kind of fallen out of love with twitching, though I still do it, and more into building my self-found list (269) and photography. With this in mind and given I live over the border in Leicestershire, though like Dean Eades I'm a Yorkshireman, I decided that I was going to adopt Lincolnshire as my main birding county. I also joined the Lincolnshire bird Club. My reasons for this was there's just so much good habitat that I've a better chance of finding something myself and there won't be the Spurn/Norfolk style crowds to deal with.

What I'm looking to do is start and make some birding contacts in the county and also to learn the whereabouts of some species to boost my Lincolnshire list. I'm high on the quality end of the birds, though I never had a chance for the Audouin's Gull, but short on commoner stuff. A lot of it I will pick up on the way and already have at Far Ings but where can I find such birds as Little Owl or Tawny Owl? Is there such a thing as a roosting Tawny Owl that can be seen in daylight such as the ones at Hoveringham, Peterborough or Holkham Park. I really need a good photo of Tawny Owl.
What are the chances of getting Hawfinch now? We used to get them in Pickworth Great Wood on the Rutland side of the border, do they exist on your side anymore as we haven't seen them for a good few years.

Anyway if anyone out there can help or fancies meeting up sometime please get in touch.

Kind regards
