I was chatting to a friend in the next village yesterday who told me that she has been seeing a Goldcrest coming to the fat balls on her feeding station. Although having Goldcrests in our own garden from time to time we have never one on the feeders. I would guess that this is quite an unusual occurrence - unless someone out there knows otherwise?

I've only ever ringed three Goldcrests in nets adjacent to garden feeders. I've put it down to coincidence as I've never actually seen them on the feeders/fat balls etc.

Have now had a Goldcrest in our garden in Louth for 5 weeks, its main target for feeding is on the fat balls,
Cheers, Mike Surr

Thanks Mike,
Goldcrests may eventually become as common on garden feeders as Long-tailed Tits, the latter had rarely been reported on feeders until about 10-12 years ago.
