We were saddened today to learn of the passing on of the lovely "Lincolnshire Naturalist" Miles Hopper . Im sure lots of people here knew him and his death is such a great loss. He was a fantastic naturalist, artist and always had an entertaining story to tell whenever you had the pleasure of talking to him. He shall be sorely missed and Im sure everyone will extend their deepest sympathy to his family and friends. RIP Miles, we shall miss you. Mandy & Mick |

Very shocked and sorry to learn of this Mandy, we knew Miles very well. A wonderful character with a tremendous knowledge of birds and nature in general. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him, both in the Barton area and further afield. Roy. |

I would just like to echo Mandy and Roy's remarks. Miles was a great communicator and will be sadly missed. |

My thoughts exactly, would like to say Miles was always full of funny stories and was a great character and i will miss those day's when we often met up at Worlaby for a chat.Would also like to say iam a proud owner of one of his many original drawings and it sits pride of place on my computer desk. Hi all, I last met miles hopper down at alk flats last year,he was a great guy id met him several times over the years, one thing i remember him saying"more birds of prey would get spotted if people looked up into the sky more",sounds daft on first hearing, but it is not. He was a gifted naturalist with an immense knowledge and wisdom. Dave johnson liked miles a lot too, He will be sadly missed by many, and he will leave a void hard if not impossible to fill. Roger. |
