It seems that the American Ornithological Association acting on advice from Cornell have recently lumped the following -

American Herring Gull with Herring Gull
Green-winged Teal with Teal
Siberian Stonechat with Stonechat

I believe that the BOU has also followed this line. Does anybody know for sure?

The AOU have always lumped the Herring Gulls (they were reviewed and the proposal to split smiths didn't pass: http://www.aou.org/committees/nacc/prop ... 3#2007-B-1), the teals are not split by AOU NACC/SACC, but Anas carolinensis is still recognised by e.g. IOC, AERC & BOURC. Likewise they don't split Saxicola maurus, which is recognised by e.g. Clements.
