For those of you visiting Lincoln and who enjoy viewing the Peregrines on the Cathedral, the RSPB has nationally released the following news ( so it is 'safe' to pass it on ) :

" The birds are now incubating 3 eggs. The RSPB hope to have telescopes and binoculars available to view the birds from the South side of the Cathedral every Saturday and Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from Saturday 2nd May until Sunday 30th August."

Regards,

Freddy

For information the birds are for the first time using the purpose built nesting platform, so hopefully there will be no young falling out this year!

Eggs are due to hatch from today 24th onwards. The platform edge needed to be small so that a sitting adult has views over it (otherwise it wouldn't get used) and should stop chicks from falling overboard whilst they are small. There will always be a risk when the chicks get older and scramble competitively for food and do their wing excercises - but at least there are other perching places on the way down!
