National Corncrake survey (Lincolnshire???) A national Corncrake survey, funded by NIEA, SNH and RSPB, is taking place this summer (20th May - 10th July). In addition to the usual annual monitoring of the core distribution (Western Isles, Argyll islands, Orkney etc.), efforts are being made to assess the population status of Corncrake in the remainder of the UK. An important component of this national survey involves a plea to the public to report their records of Corncrake; a publicity campaign, comprising a press release in national and regional newspapers during the week beginning the 11th May, will attempt to raise awareness of the survey and encourage individuals to submit their records. If you are aware of any reliable Corncrake reports in your region, could you report the record to the RSPB on one of the following phone number: 01767 680 551 (England and Wales) It is important to emphasise that we would very much like to hear about any records as soon as possible, so that they can be confirmed while the Corncrake are still present.
