Having intended to visit Chambers wood today decided to do a detour at Wragby and head for Gibralter pt instead. Saw my first small red eyed damselflies at Mill pond today, counted at least 22 with many of them in tandem, with them was a solitary red eyed damselfly which according to Edmund Mackrill is a first for Gibraltar Pt, also a couple of emerald damselflies, ruddy darters, emperors and four spot chasers. What an excellent find! and certainly the first record for Gib. I wasnt able to llok until late this afternoon but saw the individual almost immediately with about 15 small red eyed damsels. It certainly seems to show good criteria for red eyed. Did not manage to get any photos though. Will try again later in the week. The cricket photo is most likely short winged conehead which is fairly widespread in tall grass around the freshwater masrh and saltmarshes. It is possible that long-winged conehead has been recorded here for the first time this year too. Cheers Kev |
