Hi A delayed post. Blue tailed damselfly 2 Variable damselfly 5 Red-eyed damselfly 2 females Azure damselfly 3 Common blue damselfly 1 Large red damselfly 3 all teneral Also a medium sized dragonfly that I may have flushed - it headed skywards until I couldn't see it with my x10 bins. Flight/fright or dispersive behaviour? Nice to find a new variable damselfly site. A new 10km record I think. Also nice to see a drain that isn't intensively managed and has good stands of emergent vegetation - the lack of management may relate to the presence of variable damselfy (Brooks and Lewington, 1997). This also may be the source site for the Fiskerton Fen records in 2011. Nick |
