The first Odonate of the year was Damselfly that I disturbed whilst driving the tractor and trailer, which fustratingly then flew 'into the sun' and then over a low embankment and out of sight. Almost certainly a Large Red which is always the first species to emerge at Whisby.

Large Red Damsel Fly also present at Kirkby Morr today.

I wouldn't know a damselfly if it flew up and whacked me on the nose with a placard saying "I am a damselfly"!
