Post subject:  worth looking for RV darters

Hi all, its probably worth keeping an eye open for red-veined darters again this year. I went to Norfolk last week and found 10 adult male RV darters in the brecks at East Wretham Heath (Langmere). I haven't had chance to check Maxey Pits (Cambs near Deeping Market) hundreds if not thousands emerged last autumn, or Welland Bank or Kirkby pits etc.etc. When the good weather finally arrives all of these sites will be worth checking. Its still unclear whether this years RV darters are migrants or british bred individuals or a mix of both.

Quite warm yesterday and a quick visit to Maxey (just inside Cambs ) revealed two red-veined darters at the northern end of the pit, many more may have been present. There must surely be some present in Lincs.
