With recent records of Small Red-eyed Damselfly at Boultham Mere and Whisby Settlement Lagoons it was enevitable that the the species must be at Whisby Nature Reserve.

With a break in the weather (and a break from grassland management) I have finally managed to track down a few individuals thus confirming the first records for Whisby NR. Yesterday (Friday 25th) there were 3 males and a female (included in this total was a pair ovipositing) and today I saw a single male before the motor on the boat packed in. All records from algal mats on Grebe Lake. Also recorded around Whisby over the last two days.....

3+ male Banded Demoiselle
6+ Emerald Damselfly
50+ Blue-tailed Damselfly
Common Blue Damselfly still in the thousands
3 Red-eyed Damselfly
50+ Brown Hawker
1 Southern Hawker
12+ Migrant Hawker
1 Emperor Dragonfly
Common Darter in the hundreds
3 male Ruddy Darter

Regards

Grahame
