I've had a least one request (!) to undertake a weekly Odonata list for Whisby in much the same way as I have been doing for birds, so here goes with the first one...........

Large Red Damselfly - the first emergent was recorded on 2nd May on Magpie Walk, some 13 days later than last year.

Four-spotted Chaser - the current spell of warm weather brought out the first Anisopteran today 7th May, with a single recorded at Teal Lake. This is 12 days later than last year.

Expected over the next few days should be Blue-tailed, Common Blue and Azure Damselflies.

Regards

Grahame

1 Blue-tailed Damselfly
10+ Common Blue Damselfly
1m 1f Azure Damselfly
2 Four-spotted Chaser
