Astonishing this hasn't been mentioned. Well actually it isn't because all the big rarities in Lincs never make it on to news services/forums etc for ages for some strange reason

So, whats the gen?!

The duo Barry & Michael located it this morning, then flew towards the dunes not to be seen again

You and others seem to be assuming that the people who find birds use these forums. There are lots of birders out there, including quite a few from this county who have no interest in publicising their sightings. There's not much anyone can do about it...

your right john clarkson,but these same people enjoy seeing other rarities found by other people who are quite happy to release their finds.

yeah, not unusual at all for Lincs-oh well. Anyways, back from Flamborough yesterday and did my usual at Freiston and managed 1 redstart and 7 little stints-must admit my hopes were a little higher than that. Would have liked chance of melodious at Gib too; if i had known before dark. Working all weekend as well(boo)

There's a lot of angst about regarding reporting birds here and on the other site. But you should regard placing info on these sites as a minority interest. In Louth, my home town, I can easily think of six members of the LBC. Only two of us report on this site. I know of three other birders, two of whom are very active and competent, one of whom reports occasionally on the other site and one who doesn't bother at all. So nine birders in the town and only three reporting sightings on the web. They will communicate by phone or when I bump into them though. I guess that this is repeated county wide. Also, these figures don't include the finders of the PGWarbler who, incidentally, DID report it on RBA so what's the problem?
So why are so many reluctant to report their birds on these forums? I have a strange feeling of deja vu

i have read 5 replies of moaning about the release of info and i can find nowhere that tells the simple folk like me where it is or was sighted except deans mention of the dunes.
theres a lot of them in lincs, just where are we talking about ?

Pye's Hall just E of the outfall as reported on RBA and subsequently on Birguides etc

i guess donna nook might be busy today, hope it is not as elusive as the yellow browed was the other day. i was fortunate enough to see the blakney p g tips a few years ago so good luck to everyone.

Pyes Hall was packed out with at least 6 birders on Thursday and I bet that there where at least 4 birders there today.

Sorry John I appear to have tickled a nerve... my comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek! It's just amusing that no one even bothers to give the low down on whats happening with such a rare bird as this. The news didn't even get out until two hours after the finding.

Did many people bother to go and look for the bird? If there was a little more co-ordination and communication between lincs birders then we might all see alot more birds and be alot happier. There could have been an organised walk of the area to relocate the bird - the more the better etc

So how well was this bird actually seen?I have heard rumours the bird was only seen in flight,surely that can't be enough to id this tricky species on flight views alone,was it seen perched up,are there any photo's etc,etc,there isn't very much being said about the record at all,considering it's rarity status in the county.

yes which meant alot of people were on the east coast and off work; I spoke to plenty who were quite keen to come down to North Lincs and help search but with no further news forthcoming most sacked it off and headed to spurn etc

Called in at Donna Nook this afternoon but only because I hadn't been for a while. Other than two Kestrels and six gulls it was dead, no shortage of dogs though.
