When is the best time (and best time of year) to see large numbers of birds there? Every time I go, it's usually the late morning/afternoon and not a lot seems to go on. There were Knot, Godwits, Sanderlings, Turnstones and Oystercatchers on the beach, but not really much going on inland, save for windswept Mallards, Goldfinches, corvids and Gulls.
Is Gib in this area of drought in Lincolnshire? I visited the reserve today (5th) as it's my birthday and the once-watery areas that the Mere Hide, the other hide across the path, down a grassy area and round a hummock and Jackson's overlook are alarmingly low or bereft of water!!
Perhaps one day, someone who has a better ability to pick birds out of the landscape by eye could accompany me round? Perhaps my observational ability isn't quite as sharp as it needs to be!
