Looking back at my records for the past 3 years I have noticed that the first sightings of Warblers tend to be around 18 - 20th March, and usually Chiffchaff. As my records only go back 3 years what is the latest that they have been recorded arriving, I am aware that a few are now resident all year round.

If you want to see how your records compare with the wider picture, one of the best sites is that of the BTO, in particular the Birdtrack section. Here you can see this year's sightings, with a comparison of historical data, for any species. The Chiffchaff one shows how late they are this year. This link may take you there: http://blx1.bto.org/birdtrack/main/data-home.jsp

I've also not seen or heard a summer visitor this year. In addition the winter visitors seem to have gone and many residents are keeping out of sight (assuming they're alive). Quiet is an over-statement!

In 2011 I photographed a Chiffchaff at Kirkby on Bain on 10th March. Although I have
been visiting the site just as regularly this year I have not yet seen one.
