Walking on new path today..brigg to broughton bridge (which is wressle bridge) a duck caught my eye..I recorded on voice recorder a description & checked when I got home..common merganser..would that be right for this time of year/area..

Most likely. They tend to commute between the Ancholme and Cadney Reservoir at this time of year. Not sure many folk round here would call them Common Merganser just Goosander.
