For those of you that are interested in avian taxonomy (if not stop reading now!), you might like to know that the latest BOURC’s Taxonomic Sub-committees ‘Taxonomic recommendations for British Birds; Sixth report’, is now available for download here
http://thebritishlist.blogspot.com/Never mind the repositioning of the Galloanserea clade (game birds/wildfowl) a couple of years ago, the adoption of the deferred recognition of the flamingo-grebe clade (to be placed between Ciconiiformes (storks/herons/egrets etc) and Falconiformes (birds of prey), in the TSC’s Fourth report, this latest thinking has recommendations for a new sequence for the Passeriformes! You guys are going to love re-arranging your British lists!!
By the way the BOURC’s 38th Report is also available for download at the same place for those interested in changes to the British List at the species level.
Regards
Grahame
