Found this link http://www.birdguides.com/webzine/article.asp?a=1879 via BTO Birdtrack website.

Interesting request from RSPB Scotland about disturbance of birds in cold weather......even BASC is quoted in asking its members for restraint.......

Cheers

An interesting article - by coincidence I checkled the BASC web site this morning to see if a voluntary restriction on wildfowling had been considered yet (after a report of shooting on the River Steeping Haven this morning)- it is usually put in place after 8 days of severe weather and after 15 days of such, a wildfolwing ban is enforced.

John, the following link will explain voluntary and statutory bans and how, when and where they are implemented - http://www.jncc.gov.uk/page-2894

John I would have thought the voluntary restriction would have come in at least by now - judging by how its felt over the last 8 days ! although I have not checked our weather records for the period.

Cheers
