Graham Catley said "What we need is more people contributing more records". I agree.
I was wondering why I haven't been north of Donna Nook and Covenham for a while, then thought I haven't heard of any reports from the area for ages.
Does North Killingholme Pits still exist and does it still get Avocets, Black-tailed Godwits and rare waders? How about Pyewipe, Humberstone Fitties, Far Ings and Alkborough Flats?
I think the problem is, there is so much supression of news in the spring because of the fear of egg collectors, that people just stop reporting birds altogether. Also the LBC decision to ban non members from contributing on the forum hasn't helped. I know they can send emails but how many are going to bother?
The independent forum 'Lincsbirders' has helped a bit but even that is struggling to get reports.
So please everyone start submitting,no matter how mundane you think your records are, they all help to see the bigger picture.
Geoff,
In regard to North Killingholme Pits that is Mr Catley's area he did cover and most likely still does. Up to the roadworks being done I visited fairly regular but got to admit only been once since it was done. The Fitties is covered by Bradders or was. Far Ings is visited by quite a few members and last Winter my pal Mandy put out almost daily reports especially concerning the Beardies. Alkboro Flats well this is another one of Mr Catley's areas and Mr Gillat's plus supporting cast. It is a place that is either good or dead whenever I've been. Some members won't put their sightings on here in case it upsets the Alkboro Triangle!
I can think of two members who always put MSQ sightings on here until they got into trouble for reporting certain species during the breeding season, which was shame because I for one really looked forward to reading their reports.
That's my five bobs worth!
