Quite a long story but will try and keep it short .
A Mallard had 14 chicks on my garrage roof.
First night 4 had gone no sign of them 2 more went over the next few days again no sign of them,we let them swim in our non chemical swimming pool and i put an island in the middle for them the mallard slept on the island with them, 2 days later 6 were dead in the pool no marks on them the next day 2 more dead in the pool and now Last night the last 2 dead in the pool .

They could get out anytime they wanted as i put 2 ramps in for them and in the daytime they always used them to get in and out .

One morning we had 2 Drake Males in the pool henc my question as im at a loss as to what happend they were well fed and all looked very fit .

One of the males would not have the chicks anywere near him and often the female would put herself between the male and her chicks i dont know if this was the father or not.

Any iders / thourghs .
Thanks
Rob.
