Post subject:  Buzzard takes Osprey chick from nest in Scotland

Okay nothing to do with lincs birding at all but amazing footage.

It's only a short clip but why would the mother/father fly away from the nest ? osprey's are larger than buzzard why wouldnt it stand its ground?

Reading the article it's disturbing to see how people with an ulterior motive have jumped on the "lets cull the Buzzard" band wagon because of this act of nature.

I could understand people's anger if Buzzard's were an introduced species. But Buzzards are our countryside bird. The buzzard was doing what becomes natural, making sure that it's chicks survive and if the Osprey wanted to do the same it would have stood it's ground. Although if a Buzzard's talons were pointing towards me at that speed I would move out of the way :lol:
