Post subject: | Lincolnshire boundary question |
On Saturday we travelled down the A1 to Peterborough and back and saw a couple of Red Kites together at the A606 junction. As far as I can tell this is in Rutland not Lincolnshire (as per all my other sightings on the A1). However, on the way back there was one approx 50m North of the Burghley House exit (B1081). Can anyone tell me if this is site is in Lincolnshire or not? If so I think this would be my first for the County. I have tried researching it but can't find a map that gives a conclusive answer. If you're on the B1081 and it's the Lodge exit, 50 metres north would put it in Lincolnshire.........if it was on the west side of the road.! However if you're still on the A1 and you mean the B1081 exit off the A1, then it's well inside Peterborough. The A1 all the way round Stamford is outside Lincs. Alan |

Thanks for the prompt reply Alan. Unfortunately, i was on the A1 heading north and the Kite was just to the west of the carriageway so wasn't a Lincolnshire bird (B****r!!) Presumably then, if you are travelling south on the A1 nothing can be counted as a Lincolnshire bird once you pass the South Witham village area? Cheers James |
