Post subject:  Partridge Survival

The last two mornings I have conducted a spring partridge count on Abbey Farm, Woodhall, comprising five pairs of grey partridges and no red-legged.

In September I found 10 ad. + 9 young greys and 16 ad. + 10 young red-legged. No partidges were shot on the farm over the winter. No reared birds are put down on the farm.

This suggessts the greys are much better adapted to the weather we've had than the re-legged.

If anyone has any related observations I would be grateful.

Regards,

John
