It's now a week since my return from the depths of Norfolk (will do report later) and having not been on a computer for two weeks decided yesterday to have a peep. 52 emails awaited and guess what those kind wildlife people from Birdforum and Wildlife In Britain sent me their best wishes, unlike the two Lincs bird forums I belong Too late now, try and remember next year, if I'm still here . Yes I did have a crackin birthday ta, spent the evening sat on Blakeney Point pebbles eating fish cakes, chips and mushy peas watching the Sunset. Toodle pip Max |

Max, Having celebrated my 80th birthday in March, I know that birthdays for us Saga wrinklies are extra special occasions - after all, we may well be running out of them. On the other hand, it can also be said that for everyone, of whatever age, a birthday is a notable event. LBC has hundreds of members and an expensive birthday computer-generated programme would have to be installed to ensure no-one's birthday goes unannounced. Then again, who wants to see birthdays being highlighted on the LBC web almost on a daily basis? (Yawn). As far as LBC friends remembering the birthdays of LBC friends, we are all fallible - even to the point of occasionally forgetting to note our own distant family members' birthdays, let alone those of web friends. I would suggest that the happy medium and the most comforting thought is for it to be understood that our web colleagues' wishes towards us are a constant factor 365 days a year including on our birthday and at Christmas. Formal announcement then becomes superfluous. Best wishes, Freddy PS............I trust your Norfolk trip lived up to expectations. I look forward to seeing any details in due course. |
