If what i saw through the scopes of decent birders present at Greetwell Crossroads last Saturday afternoon WAS, as I was informed, a Stone Curlew, then I am the next Dalai Llama ! Dave Johnson |

errr, there was supposed to have been only ONE bird Katherine, but the ONLY living things in view were some playful rabbits and one or two Peacock butterflies. One or two birders must have departed thinking they had added Stone Curlew to their Lincs lists and that is ONLY because they accepted at face value what they were told ! If I did not see a Stone Curlew, then I DID NOT see one. I am happy. Dave |

I saw its head very clearly through several scopes and I can't think what else would have that appearance other than a stone curlew. Now if it had been a warbler, that would have been a different matter, they all look the same to me! Whilst I only saw the bird because others had got their scopes on it already, I did see it clearly and thought there was no doubt over its identity. If I have missed the point of this please bear with me, I'm useless at interpretting these messages. Jenny |

Reading some of the posts on our website over the last few months, makes me wonder if it was not only the above-mentioned Curlew that was stoned. Regards, Freddy |
