Post subject:  Best time to go birding

Afternoon all,

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the best time to go bird watching.

Is it early in the morning, late evening or anytime?

Thanks,

Barry.

In my experience, early morning is the best. As a ringer for over 25 years I have found that passerines are most active and likely to be caught from dawn up until about 8.30am at this time of year. They are also moving about quite a bit for a couple of hours before dusk. Waders are best seen at high tides or when feeding areas become exposed. Hope that helps.

Thanks for that Stuart, much appreciated.

As I'm only really a beginner, I want to optimise my chances of seeing as many birds as possible.

Thanks again,

Barry.
