How far is the range of a kingfisher? Am prompted to ask this as i sometimes see a kingfisher behind Westwick Gardens and i am fairly sure that there are no suitable nesting sites close by,and if there were any am sure the local hooligans would destroy it. |

At this time of the year, 1st year Kingfishers move about quite a bit on post juvenile dispersal. They can be seen in a variety of places in July/ August and and not neccessarily near water. From ringing recoveries, any movement over 50 kilometres is exceptional. |
