I wonder does anyone do gull roost watches in Lincs? It's very popular in the West Midlands ( not with me however, too cold)
At the moment we have two or three imm. Glaucous Gulls. I bet there's a few at Covenham now.

whenever I have done the Covenham gull watch late afternoon I find that most of them actually do not roost there but move off to the coast late on; they use the site as a bathing area late afternoona nd then go and sit and preen in the nearby fields before making the final hop to the coast; a number of gull roosts are looked at but up here there are just a few 10s of thousands on the Humber all about a mile away in fading light which makes it virtually impossible to see anything different;

Hi Graham, thanks for the info. I assumed the gulls stopped overnight at Covenham.
The only Glaucous Gull I've seen in Lincs was a 1st winter, on the beach at Saltfleet 7/3/06.
