Thought I'd open this thread so we can discuss Autumnwatch. I've seen on Martin Mere's website that the programme this time involves a Radio-controlled Mallard duck! Maybe it's to get a duck's eye view of feeding time or something, but outside that I've no idea what it's for! http://www.wwt.org.uk/news/192/sightings.html for picture of the gadget.... |

No the Malard is real, it's Bill Oddie that's radio controlled (I wish). |

I hope I'm not becoming a grumpy old man but I thought last night's programme was extremely poor. Mr Oddie seemed more keen on acting like a "Goodie" than presenting what could be a superb programme. I also thought the content was pretty limited with too many "this is what we did last year". Is it just me!! |

It's me as well Stuart. I could only watch 5 mins before Oddie's stupid antics became too irritating to watch. It can only improve - can't it? John |

Thankfully I missed Monday's programme. It's not often we agree Stuart, but I find Mr. Oddball boring. Whereas Kate and Simon are very good when not pestered by him. |

Post subject: | How about crud? |
Max Wikipedia has this to say "Crap is a slang word meaning excrement. The word is used to mean not only excrement, but anything of low quality, or as a negative interjection. Note that this word can be considered a curse word, yet is considered mild enough that even a child may use it informally. When not used literally it also may connote that something is inaccurate, of little factual substance, a lie, hype, or quackery. The word is used nearly interchangeably with "(beep)" as the less offensive of the two. Still, some people find the word crap offensive, even if not intended to mean feces, and will use the minced oath "crud" instead." I think 'crap' is quite fitting in this context but to keep it lame I will simply say that I find Mr Oddies condescending presenting style a pile of CRUD - shame, program is otherwise quite entertaining |

I gave it a second chance last night but soon switched over to the football. I actually don't give a monkey's on how many times Caesar, Brutus, Maximus and any other stupidly named Stags get their antlers over! I will not be watching any more of this series as a matter of course. |

slightly different topic i,ve watched the nature of britain with alan titchmarsh and thought he was better at presenting it than oddie would have been. it was like a knowledgeable mate was talking to you than the "loud bore" telling you |

Trev Which will have gone out on the East Midlands Today broadcasting area, and fewer people in Boston will have seen it, compared to Paul ** THUD ** Hudson's piece at Gibraltar Point....... Very strange that our 'second' regional television area is more local to Boston than the overwhelmingly dominant main region, Look North based in Hull! why Sanjida O'Connell got the nod over Paul for Freiston is a total mystery! |
