Post subject:  Gull? ID required: 25.01

While out on local patch this afternoon I scanned two areas next to M181 and noticed two lots of birds about quarter of a mile away or maybe more.

One group consisted of five and the other of three. Through the scope I could see some were motionless and the others were preening. Seven of them had dark wings, with two white smudges on a wing [I could only see one side of them], they had a white head and chest.

At first I thought they were Great Black-backed Gulls but the shape of them didn't fit. I suppose the distance they were could have played tricks with my mind. Then I wondered if they could be some type of pigeon. Been looking at images of them but the only one that looked anything like is the Pied Imperial.

The other gull looked to be all white except for black under or close to it's tail and was smaller than the other gulls. A private reservoir is close by.

Any advice would be appreciated.

My advice is to buy a "usable" telescope and a tripod that actually stands erect in the wind and does'nt behave like some piece of pathetic pink tissue paper. You would then not need to ask for advice would you ???
Would you ----- WOULD YOU ? har, harrrrrr

Why don't you practice what you preach?

Of late when you have come with me, [BUT THAT WILL SOON CEASE] you can't even be bothered bringing your bins, let alone your scope, your always wanting to use mine, so they can't be as bad as you make out. In the six years I've been taking you with me I don't think your scope has seen the light of day :!:

It's a pity you don't go into hibernation, then I would only have to read your mumblings for six months of the year.

I can't understand how uniomystic continues to be allowed spout this rubbish. I'm sure that he would have been banned from other forums.

Unless he joins the LBC, which seems unlikely, he will soon be unable to post anything on this Forum. I draw your attention to Future Operation of the Forum dated 7th December and updated 29th January.

And, furthermore, if the administrators seem a little reluctant to remove objectionable material regular readers may recall the flack directed at them recently for doing just that! However James' point has been noted.

Post subject:  banter

Firstly
i am probably the first to have a gentle prod with banter at a situation or miss placed comment, but it is only my twisted sense of humour and i would never mean to upset anyone.
Having said that there are occasions when people, no names mentioned seem to go to far with a certain acidic tone that goes beyond dood natured banter.
Roll on the months end !!!.

Post subject:  apologies

Dave [Uniomystic] contacted me by e-mail in the last few days expressing his sincere apologies for his sarcastic and in his words mean and miserable comments towards me. I asked him if he will come on here and say something similar, but he won't. He says it is enough that he has done it privately. So make of that what you will.

I don't want a witch-hunt.

I can give out far more than I get to any one on here.

Time this was locked!

Kind regards

Max
