As the title says, it's my 31st birthday next week.
To celebrate, I would love to spend the whole day birdwatching at some new sites. I've been to Frampton Marsh, Freiston Shore, Titchwell Marsh, Cley Marshes, Welney (briefly), Snipe Dales, Westgate Wood and Witham Way Country Park.
Naturally, my birthday birdwatching would be made better by one or more new life ticks to add to the list, as well as continuing to appreciate birds I've already listed.
The new locations have a few caveats. Firstly, the location must be easily accessible by road (Dad will be driving), able to be done justice in a few hours, preferably a hide, be obviously somewhere I haven't been before and with as high a chance as is realistic to provide one or a few lifers and be free of, or have a very low probability of encountering, snakes.
On my list of possibilities are:
RSPB Bempton Cliffs
Spurn Point
RSPB Old Moor
Gibraltar Point (providing there's a snake-free path through the reserve)
WWT Welney (for a more thorough look round)
Marston Sewage Works
RSPB Ouse Washes
Lakenheath Fen
Ferry Meadows Country Park, Peterborough
RSPB Snettisham
Any along the south bank of the Humber
RSPB Fairburn Ings, near Castleford
Or any place that you think I might have overlooked. These places can be a decent drive away or local.
