On November 11th, I'm going to be admitted into Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre for an operation. It'll take about 90 minutes, and it's likely I'll be in for five days max, possibly shorter if my recovery goes quickly.
Whatever the duration, I will be unable to go birdwatching during most of my anticipated 2.5-month convalescence. This is the worst bit.
Terribly nervous........ Pre-operative assessment happens Monday morning.
Hi Katherine,
Like Alan I also send you best wishes.
In 2006 I spent a considerable time in hospital and including my convalescence I was out of action nearly seven months! Some days will go more quickly than others whereas other days will drag like hell but just keep positive and keep looking forward to getting better and back out birding.
Try not to be nervous. No one likes having an operation but sometimes they are for the best, as mine was.
I'll always remember certain members of this forum sending me good wishes while I was out of action and I'm sure others will do the same for you.
Take care
