On November 11th, I'm going to be admitted into Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre for an operation. It'll take about 90 minutes, and it's likely I'll be in for five days max, possibly shorter if my recovery goes quickly. Whatever the duration, I will be unable to go birdwatching during most of my anticipated 2.5-month convalescence. This is the worst bit. Terribly nervous........ Pre-operative assessment happens Monday morning. |

Hope everything goes ok for you Katherine. Please keep us up to date with your progress. It will all be worth it in the long run & meanwhile yours will probably be the best watched garden in the county! |

Pre-operative assessment happens Monday morning. Hi Katherine, Like Alan I also send you best wishes. In 2006 I spent a considerable time in hospital and including my convalescence I was out of action nearly seven months! Some days will go more quickly than others whereas other days will drag like hell but just keep positive and keep looking forward to getting better and back out birding. Try not to be nervous. No one likes having an operation but sometimes they are for the best, as mine was. I'll always remember certain members of this forum sending me good wishes while I was out of action and I'm sure others will do the same for you. Take care John/Max |

I hope it all goes well Katherine, I take it you will still be able to entertain us on LBC forum during your period of convalescence. All the best Nick |

The operation in question is a hysterectomy. Womb, cervix and left ovary to be removed. Once that's done and the convalescence completed, I will be birdwatching intensively, or whenever Dad can take me. |

I once went into QMC. It was for an operation on a brain tumour. E39 was the ward number. In there for 2 and 1/2 weeks. That's why I can't drive. But at least I don't give up... |

Hi Katherine! I haven't been on the forum for a while (kids, new job and college course to blame!), so I've only just read your post. I really do hope you're feeling alright and are recovering well. My thoughts are with you. ![]() Keep smiling and birding!! Libby. |
