So what lenses do you all use?
Canon!!!
Well that isn’t very helpful is it, but most people I come across in Lincolnshire seem to use Canon, although Nikon are every bit as good. I don’t know a great deal about Nikon lenses but looking at what is available I would say at the cheaper end of the market (which aint that cheap) are:
Prices given are for the cheapest shown on
http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/cat11.html, although prices are on the up at the moment and it may be that they are not available at these prices anymore.
Nikon AF VR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 @ £939.56 – This lens has VR (Vibration reduction) which minimizes image blur caused by camera shake.
Nikon AF-S 300mm f/4 ED-IF @ £869.98 – This lens doesn’t have VR and would really need a 1.4 converter to give you the reach for wildlife photography.
Or if you have recently won the lottery you could purchase:
Nikon AF-S 300mm f/2.8G ED-IF VR @ £2838.29 – Again this lens would really need a converter and would work well with a 1.4x, 1.7x or 2x converter, it could certainly be handheld with a 1.4x converter.
Nikon AF-S 500mm f/4G ED VR @ £4829.99
As I said I am a Canon user and have just used my judgement from what I can see on the price list and what I know about similar Canon lenses.
I hope you find what you want Matt
Thanks
Nick
