Advice required please!

For the past four years been going to get a camcorder. I bought a digital camera a couple of years ago and for a year been using it and the scope for short films of Deer, Birds, Snakes and as of yesterday Lizard. All of these have come out pretty good but as always we want to do better!

When I first mooted at the idea of buying a camcorder I contacted Roy who gave me some excellent advice on which make to select and other important points, which I thanked him, it's always good to get advice from a professional.

In the 1970s I had an 8mm cine camera but was not into wildife more into landscapes. So I have a good idea what I'm looking for.

I know some of you have camcorders but are not sure what you use them for. I'd like any advice you have to offer.

Been on numerous websites and forums trying to find out prices and general info but like most things we want it is a minefield.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kind regards

Max

PS: My budget is on the low side, better to start at the bottom and work my way up lol

If it is any help John,i always used Panasonic and they where pretty good, also they are image stabilised which cuts most of the shake out when you are trying to hold the camera still, you could have had mine but i have sold it to my Brother-in-law.Try Jessops(although they are a bit pricey),Warehouse Express or even Lce.

John,
I borrowed a Sony from a friend when I went to a Red Kite Feeding Centre. It had an x18 zoom, stabilised image, and noticed the lens was a Carl Zeiss!!
It was pricing at time of purchase but believe they are cheap now. Sorry but cannot help with its model number, but I was impressed with it!
Cheers

Deano, Steve and John,

Thanks for advice but I'll wait a bit longer before choosing one. I own a Sony digital camera and get decent video from it, it has a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens.

Max
